Growing up in Sussex County, NJ had many perks as a kid. For one, it made me a huge nature enthusiast and taught me to love the earth. I spend countless hours in the woods and loved hiking the Appalachian Trail as a child. I’ve found that so many of my clients had a similar experience to me growing up and it warms my heart to see my generation teaching their kids to love nature in the same way we were taught by the generation before us.
This family loves the outdoors very much and goes hiking together frequently. In fact, they live ON the Appalachian Trail, which makes it really easy to spend all your free time outdoors. When I found this out I was green with envy and we knew immediately that was where we would have their family session!
I came to their house at the end of October when the leaves were at their peak and just about died when I saw how beautiful it was! We took a hike into the woods together, capturing some beautiful family moments along the way.
Once we got back to the house we played a little bit on the tree swing and in the driveway.
If you follow me on instagram you may have recognized some of these photos. I shared a story as a caption on one of them about how this amazing-adventure-momma and I met in middle school and how I vividly remember one day on the bus talking about what our future kids names would be. To be able to reconnect and meet up with her and her family all these years later was such a cool experience!
And of course, being able to do a session on the Appalachian Trail, one of my favorite places on earth, was such a treat! I can’t wait to do it again!
