Fall Family Portraits at the beach
I woke up on the morning of this portrait session and heard rain dropping on the roof. I checked the weather report and saw that the temperature was forecasted to be in the 40’s and immediately called Emily. Her response was nothing short of amazing, something along the lines of, “It’s raining here too, but its okay! I’m thinking of it like I did on my wedding… if it rains, it rains. We’ll make the best of it.”
With that ready-for-anything attitude I excitedly put some rain protection for my camera into my already packed bag, and got ready to head to the beach!
Meeting up with this family that morning was so much fun! I’ve known Emily for over a decade because her cousin was my best friend in college. I spent many a seder at her parents house for Passover during those college years, her family always generously welcoming me into their home. Needless to say, it was so great to catch up in person, after following each other on instagram and facebook for all these years. Online she’s always posting these amazing portraits of her daughter, who makes the best expressive faces in photos, and I was so excited to capture a few of them for myself.
They wore a beautiful fall color palette of deep reds and earthy greens, with pink. It looked gorgeous against the blue ocean that morning. Believe it or not, after our phone call that morning, we showed up to the beach and the rain had stopped. It was chilly, but bright and beautiful out. I’m so thankful that this adventurous family was ready for anything and that we decided to do our session despite the weather!!
These faces that she’s making at her dog are *hysterical*! haha Definitely going into my 2018 blooper reel! <3
…and it wouldn’t be an Asbury Park photo shoot without utilizing the beautiful street art and colorful walls.
What a fun family session!! I can’t wait to shoot in Asbury Park again. I love it there.
