Wow!
2019 was an incredible year!! There’s a lot to celebrate this year, both professionally and personally.
With Heather Palecek Photography, I collaborated with so many of my past clients to create memorable family portraits and met & photographed a bunch of new families too! I loved getting to know my new 2019 families and it feels great to see some of the same faces year after year! We went hiking together, played in the snow, threw leaves at one another, survived the heatwave this summer, and laughed the whole way through! Some of my favorite locations were in backyards all over the state, and a few of my favorite local parks!
My entrepreneur group, the Princeton chapter of The Rising Tide Society, has grown and we’ve had some amazing moments together this year.
On a personal note, my pinhole photography and alternative process artwork was exhibited numerous times, I was a part of four group shows, two juried exhibitions, and had a duo show at a local gallery. The Lensless Podcast had me as a guest. And I decided to create a webpage for my artwork and have dedicated a lot of energy into creating new pieces each week this year. I sincerely think that 2019 was my most artistic year yet!
In 2019 I travelled to Europe and Africa for the first time, visiting my cousin in Morocco where she was stationed in the Peace Corp, and took a “road trip” (traveling by bus and train) from Prague to Paris with my best friend. I was also completely humbled and honored to be the officiant of my brothers wedding, and I celebrated my best friend and her new husband as their maid of honor. <3 There was so much love celebrated this year!
Although all of these things are great – I’m mostly just happy to have you all here, trusting me to create family heirlooms for you. Your support of my business means so incredibly much to me. I’m sincerely thankful for each and every one of you for my continued growth and establishment as a local family & celebration photographer in NJ. I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing every day if it wasn’t for each of you. Thank You!

This pup, Spock, is so loved by his humans and was such a joy to involve in this portrait session! I was in the process of getting my composition right and the perfect rim lighting from the sun when Spock flung around to give Ishwari a big kiss. I love the expression on her face here. Perfect moment and one of my favorite images of 2019!
This family session spoke to my heart so much.
This is 3 generations of family at the grandparents house a couple months before they sold their house. This home is full of decades of happy memories and they wanted to document their last summer altogether in the house where their family legacy was born. Capturing generations of families at their homes is rapidly becoming “my thing” and something I definitely want to do more of in 2020.
This was such a lovely moment, candidly photographed in the woman on the lefts Reiki Studio. We did a portrait session celebrating these grandmas in May, taking portraits outdoors and then ending the session in the Reiki studio taking candids of them playing around.
This graham-cracker-face makes me smile every time I see it. Ending this portrait session with smores was an AMAZING idea. <3
Capturing this BIG ANNOUNCEMENT was one of my 2019 highlights for sure!
And finally, this memory of 2019… In November I visited a friend I’ve had since middle school at her home in Chicago. She and her husband just had a baby boy and I obviously had to bring my camera to capture some moments of them in their home. This moment, where they look like age-old-friends sharing a laugh, makes me so happy!
