Evelyn’s 1st Birthday Cake Smash
Time sure does fly – It feels like yesterday I photographed this little ones newborn session and just like that she’s ONE! To celebrate we got together in December and did a cake smash session for her.
In the week leading up to the date of the session we had to switch up the location from their house to the office where dad works. This was no big deal because I travel with my photography studio. You’d never know by looking at the photographs that we were in a large entrance way to an office building! And even more luckily, her father works in an space that has an AMAZING Christmas display set up that of course we had to use for some Christmas themed family portraits. I’ll show those at the bottom of this post!
We chose a neutral and simple color palette for the cake smash, which is my absolute favorite because it keeps all the attention on the birthday girl and allows them to stand out and shine.
Before the actual cake smash, I always do a set of 1st birthday portraits without the cake.
After that, I clear the ground and set up the cake. Evelyn dove right in and LOVED her cake.
She finished up her cake smash with a “touchdown” pose! What a cutie!
As I mentioned before… we did this session in an office building with an amazing Christmas set up, and since it was a few weeks before the holiday it was the perfect opportunity to create some family photos for cards. Isn’t this display incredible??
Thank you for reading along.
Happy 1st Birthday, little one. Wishing you all the best in this new year!
