Cherry Blossom season is upon us, and honestly it’s one of my favorite times of year to shoot! It’s the time of year that lets you know spring is FINALLY here. The weather gets a little warmer, flowers start peeking up from the ground, and then it seems like overnight that all the trees just explode with blossoms and color! It makes for a gorgeous background in photos, which is why everyone wants their family portraits in the cherry blossom trees!
This family and I got really lucky – back in October we made an educated guess and picked a date on the April calendar for our session. And we got the date spot on! Yay! It was a peak week for blossoms at Branch Brook Park!!
I was so happy we got the date right and even happier that I had the opportunity to photograph this amazing family again, now that they’re a family of four! Working with repeat clients is always so much fun because it’s like meeting up with old friends.
Believe it or not, Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ actually has more cherry blossom trees than Washington DC does! I’m so thankful it’s right in our back yard and that I can shoot in it every year. This family made an excellent location choice!
The weekend we went to the park it was absolutely packed with guests. I’m thankful for how adventurous this family is and how willing they were to go to what seemed like a back corner of the park, tucked away down a muddy path, so we could capture their photos without the crowds!
Here are some more highlights from our session:
