I’m really starting to feel like your own front yard is just the most ideal place for a family portrait session! These portraits taken of three generations of family were made in Paramus in the front and back yard of the grandparents house. It was inspired by a family session I captured last fall that I’ve been calling “The Front Porch Session“. After doing two family sessions in this way, I’m going to start advocating for it!
Taking extended family portraits are always special because the whole family gets together which may not happen often… And the sentimental value is really kicked up a notch when they’re taken at home! This sweet family chose their grandparents house knowing that after many years it was going to be put on the market this summer and these coming months would be their last memories in the pool, sipping mimosas, and enjoying each others company in the house they grew up in. It was bittersweet for all of us to capture these photographs, but the memories will last so much longer when they’re framed on the walls of each of their houses.
This family had a great connection and so much love shared between them – I could feel it as I walked into their home. Rosie and Frank raised three wonderful children and now have three beautiful, smart, and funny grandchildren! They welcomed me into their home and made me feel like one of them right from the start. They were full of laughs, and the kids had such amazing personalities and responded so well to having their photos taken. It was a wonderful day all around. We took formal posed photos in the front and back yards and then ended the session with candids of the family playing in the pool, which I was so excited about. Wait until the end of this post when you see the jumping pictures and all of them throwing each other in the pool!
A quick side note before sharing the highlights: The grandparents in these photos are actually really close friends with the grandparents from the Front Porch Session I mentioned above, and all the kids grew up together! They’ve attended events that I’ve photographed over the years, and it was so nice to finally meet their extended family and get to know them. I love familial connections like these! <3
Cheers to the deep love of a family and continuing to make beautiful memories no matter where you are! <3 Thank you for such a wonderful family session!
