Jen and her brother hadn’t had professional portraits taken of themselves since they were 6 or 7 years old… Two decades later they had an idea to have a family portrait session and give the photos of the two of them to their mom for a Mothers Day gift. In a review that Jen left on my facebook page, she said that her mom was in tears when she saw the photos and over the moon happy with them!
Family photos are truly such an everlasting gift. I cherish all of my family photos from over the years and throughout past generations before I was even alive. It’s such a blessing to be able to provide a service that allows families to document their lives and love and pass down those memories for generations.
When Jen and I were planning her session we decided on Waterloo Village for it’s convenient location and beautiful grounds. This park was one of the options for her wedding a few years ago; although they chose a different venue for that day, we were able to go back and she still got her family photos there. This session included her brother and her husband – who are best friends – and since their families are so close knit they knew their mom would love having photos of all of them together in addition to just Jen and her brother. They wore a beautiful color palette of deep purple and tan that looked gorgeous among the forests and old buildings in the park. The dynamic between the three of them was great – they told me that I made them feel comfortable and have fun, but I have to admit that they made me feel the same. We laughed and joked the whole time! They started the session by telling me it’s impossible to get her brother Joe to smile, but I’m happy to admit that he was easy to crack and the photos came out great! There are so many natural laughs and genuine smiles.
Here are some of the highlights from their family portrait session:
