This family session took place right before Christmas on a chilly day in Atlantic Highlands, NJ. Family had traveled in from Florida so they could all be together for the holidays, which I always say is the best time to get your portraits taken! (I even did this with my own family two years ago!)
We met at a gorgeous location with an overlook of Sandy Hook, which was such a beautiful location for these portraits. I’m so glad they suggested it! The blue hues of the water and sky complimented their color palette of blues and neutrals. I love that combination!
There were four families altogether; three beautiful sisters, their parents and immediate families.
A few years ago I got together with these two to do a family session at Ringwood Botanical Garden. It was so great to catch up after a few years had passed. I remember their first family session vividly, how much fun we had, and how much laughter we shared. It was no different with the entire family – constant laughter and positivity!
After we finished this set of portraits in front of the water, I suggested doing another set in front of these huge holly trees I had been eyeing up. The sun was shining beautifully behind them which gave a really great warm wintery feel to the images.
We ended the session by being a little goofy and having some fun! It took a bit of convincing but this family loves to have a good time so it wasn’t hard – I had everyone grab hands and skip towards me a couple times which got them laughing and goofing around. You might recognize a couple of these from my 2018 blooper reel! 🙂
Thanks so much for taking a peek at this fun winter family session in Atlantic Highlands! If you’re thinking about having your own winter session, here are some tips to make it perfect:
