I think “Grandmas Day” needs to be an official holiday after hearing about this amazing occasion that one of my clients put together for her mom and mother-in-law.
Since her mother-in-law was visiting from the UK for the week, she wanted to create an amazing memory for her daughter with her “Nana” and “Safta” and celebrate them. She called it Grandma’s Day and pampered them all day long. First they painted pottery together, then went for lunch and foot massages! Afterwards I met them at Safta’s house and we had a photo shoot with the two grandmas and their granddaughter in their beautiful backyard. The printed photos became mothers day gifts to each of these amazing ladies.
We took various group photos outdoors with their dogwood trees and large Japanese maple. Afterwards we went into Saftas Reiki Studio and I was able to capture adorable candid photos of them playing drums together and with the items on the altar.
Here are some highlights from their grandmas and granddaughter photo shoot:
After spending some time in the back yard with all the greenery and beautiful dogwood trees we decided to move to the front yard and use the family-favorite Japanese Maple Tree for a background. I’m so glad we did! I love the way the branches pour out of the center of the frame and all the warm sun-kissed leaves filling the photos.
We ended the portrait session with some child-lead candid photos in Safta’s Reiki Studio.
And I couldn’t leave this blog post without sharing my favorite blooper of the night! This one’s definitely going to re-surface in December in my 2019 blooper reel! <3
Thank you so much for reading along! If this blog post inspires you to create your very own “Grandma’s Day”… I want to hear about it! AND photograph it! This was so much fun to be a part of!
