Happy 2nd Birthday, Mackenzie!
Happy Birthday to this little cutie! She just turned TWO! And to celebrate she had a Mickey themed birthday party at home with her friends and all the parents. Mackenzie is independent, smart, and such a happy kid.
I find myself so fortunate to have found this incredible family and have had the pleasure to be there for all the birthday parties over the past four years for her and her brother. Every time I’m welcomed as part of the family and have enjoyed watching the kids and all their friends grow up and to be there to capture the memories they’re making together. I know I’m the photographer, but sometimes it feels like I’m the guest too and I just love that!
For the Mickey theme they decorated the kitchen and dining room and made some adorable goodie bags with headbands and snacks in them. The whole family and some of the guests wore Mickey themed outfits and t-shirts and Mackenzie had an incredible homemade dress on, purchased on etsy!
The first guests to arrive are their long time best friends and the kids immediately started playing. I pried them away for a few family portraits before the rest of their friends arrived!
After all their friends got there, it was go time! The kids played upstairs and downstairs. Toys were EVERYWHERE! They just had so much fun and all got along so well with one another!
Not having my own children, I was surprised how excited kids are with Alexa in 2020. It was awesome to see technology being used for play in this way. They were asking Alexa math problems and as you can see – loving the results! In the first photo they asked it what 2+2 was. In the second they would ask her to add absurd, non-existent numbers and when she came up with a result they went wild and would laugh and scream so loud! It was awesome!!
Pretty soon it was pizza time!
…and then back to play time! All the kids loved their newly renovated downstairs family room with all the great toy options for them to play with.
And before the end of the party, it was cake time! The kids had been asking about the cake since the moment they walked in the door, so this was a big part of the day!
…and these photos I actually find so funny! Just before I left the older kids snuck upstairs to find one of the cats, who they were scared would scratch them, and were also told not to play with. They snuck in and out of the bedroom, hiding from parents… forgetting to mind that I had followed them with my camera and had caught them red handed… just before sneaking back down the stairs mission-impossible-style on their bellys. haha
The last few photos of the afternoon were pure chaos as the kids were fully sugared up after cake and jumping all over the living room with balloons.
I had such a wonderful time celebrating Mackenzie’s 2nd birthday and am so happy you’ve read through the recap to celebrate with me again!
Wishing you the best year to come, little one, and looking forward to seeing you next year at your 3rd!
