Photographing these newborn twin boys and their amazing parents at their home in Manasquan was one of the highlights of my summer. We spent a wonderful afternoon together capturing the details of their first weeks as a family of four: All the sweet smiles, kisses, and snuggles… and even the poopy diapers! I love lifestyle newborn sessions because most of the final images are unposed and natural; a great reminder in years to come of how things were and how tiny your babies used to be.
Lauren and Josh’s home was beautiful and made a perfect backdrop for their lifestyle newborn session. They coordinated their outfits to match the greens of their nurseries and the decor of their bedroom and home, a subtle detail which makes the photographs that much better. The boys were so well behaved the entire time, happy to be snuggled and moved throughout the rooms in their home. I arrived at a feeding time, so we took photographs in their open concept kitchen and living room first. Then we made our way upstairs to one of the nurseries for some photographs of just the boys, and family photos of all four of them. After, we went into their bedroom and took some classic parent photos and some really beautiful images of them reading Dr. Seuss’s “the foot book” as a family.
I’m thrilled to share these photographs with you! Enjoy!
This family was referred to me by my friend Dennis Pike who was their wedding photographer a few years ago. When I noticed the wedding albums full of his photographs on the coffee table I had to incorporate them into one of the photos I took. I love the detail of the baby books on top of coffee table as their family expands.
After they were done feeding and changing the boys they got dressed for their portraits in their nursery.
How adorable is this nursery?! I love everything about it!!
After taking these adorable photos in the crib we moved over into the master bedroom where Lauren and Josh read “the foot book” by Dr. Seuss.
I hope you enjoyed these highlights! Look forward to more from this family throughout the year.
I personally love lifestyle newborn sessions because the final images are mostly unposed and natural; a great reminder in years to come of how things were. I like to describe them as “an artistically refined reality” because although the background is naturally your home and you’re giving attention to your babies the way you normally would, I’m able to add beautiful lighting, direct you a little, and compose a photograph that captures the beauty of your life.
