Hopewell, NJ Maternity Session
This fall I collaborated with one of my favorite NJ wedding photographers and friends, Fabienne! We got together with her husband to take maternity photos at Washington Crossing State Park to celebrate her pregnancy. The weather that evening was warm and the sun was shining bright, highlighting the beautiful scenery at my favorite local park. We chose this location because Fabienne wanted some old buildings for a backdrop and I knew that the surrounding trees and natural areas were equally as gorgeous.
We laughed our way throughout the entire session and had so much fun wandering around the park, chasing the sun, throwing leaves, and making John whisper funny things in Fabiennes ear!
At the bottom of this blog post I’ll give my 3 best tips for a successful maternity session, but first: Here are some highlights from the photo shoot!
See what I mean about the gorgeous scenery? This old building is beautiful too – and I bet you would never know it was actually the bathroom! haha We had a laugh posing in front of it as people came in and out.
Tips for Planning a Pregnancy Photo Shoot
- I always say it’s best to do the photo shoot between approx. 32-36 weeks so that you’re almost fully showing but not totally uncomfortable or too close to your due date.
- Including your significant other and your children (if you have any) is a great idea! They don’t have to be in every photo, but it’s so nice to capture your growing family and the love you share when you’re all together.
- The best outfits are ones that are show off your baby bump and if you are going to wear heels I recommend bringing flip flops too so you can change in and out as we walk around throughout the session.
