This little cutie turned ONE years old this week! Happy Birthday!!
To celebrate her 1st birthday, we got together at her home to do a cake smash and take some first birthday portraits in a studio setting. She wore a gold tutu and a gold and white onesie with a purple headband. All of these colors were incorporated into her winter/snowflake themed first birthday party decorations so the photos accompanied that perfectly!
With every cake smash, I always suggest taking family portraits too, since I believe so strongly in having family portraits taken. Usually the family photos happen first, then we do the first birthday portraits, followed by the cake smash. (Which is always immediately followed by a bath! haha) On this particular day it was 34 degrees and snowing heavily so instead of going outside for the family portraits we decided to take them inside their beautifully decorated living room. They have a gorgeous gallery wall of photos and artwork that made a gorgeous textured backdrop for some of their portraits, and then we used the Christmas tree as well. Not only was this week her first birthday, but her first Christmas too – and I thought it was so special that we were able to incorporate both of these “firsts” into their family photos.
The red and cream color palette they chose for their outfits matched the Christmas theme (and their home!) perfectly and the birthday girl looked so beautiful in her dress! She was all smiles the whole afternoon and really enjoyed her first ever taste of cake!
Here are some highlights from their portrait session. Enjoy!
Their pup, Fiona, was so incredibly sweet!
Her first birthday portraits came out soooo cute! I just love that big smile and her “so big” aka “touchdown!” pose!
Thanks for reading this blog post and celebrating this family with me!
